Rik & The Pigs is a grimy old school punk band from Olympia, Washington. They are starting to build a name for themselves with their DIY ethos and their energetic live performances.
“America” is from their debut full length album, A Child’s Gator, which is due out on January 16th, 2018. This ditty is hooky and raucous and it also contains scathing lyrics which could be described as an indictment on the USA. The country is described as “watching you”, “hanging a noose”, ” you got a screw loose” and “they wanna kill you”. These lyrics may make the listeners think about government surveillance, police brutality, the Trump administration and lack of regard for the poor and minorities.
