On March 5, 2018, Superchunk released a video for “Cloud of Hate”, a track off of their latest album What a Time To Be Alive. The album is the influential indie band most political. It is also an early candidate for best protest album of 2018 (the title track as also previously been featured as a daily dose of protest).

At only a minute and a half the song is a concise synopsis of life in Trump’s America. Even though there is an anger and darkness, the lyrics also expressed hope that there is also a “cloud of love” which will hopefully prevail. The tune also includes the lyrics, “You scare the kids / I hope you die scared / Of all the kids that know the truth”, which resonates in the current rise of youth activist which are striking fear in the hearts of politicians and institutions such as the NRA. These courageous young voices are providing hope for the future.
