Angélique Kidjo is releasing a cover album of Talking Heads 1980 classic Remain In Light.
Afrobeat singer and activist Angélique Kidjo just announced she will be releasing a full length cover album of the Talking Heads’ 1980 classic Remain In Light, which is set for a June 8th release date. On March 22, 2018 she posted the video of her re-imagination of “Born Under Punches” from the album.
The lyrics make reference to the oppressive hands of the government which continues to resonate on a global scale. The African beats of Kidjo’s reworking adds a new and relevant dynamic to the tune.
