Territories is a Canadian punk band who features members of defunct veteran punk group Knucklehead. They recently released their self titled album.
One of the more political songs off of the album is “The Bigger They Come”. The blistering 2 minute tune references the old cliché “the bigger they come, the harder they fall” but bemoans the fact that “somehow that is just not the way it seems to be.”
The lyrics make references to institutions that are deemed “too big to fail” and how “politics are up for sale.”
It is an indictment of how big banks are able to get away with the exploitation of clients and are able to get away with questionable business practices. They become too big to jail. Not only is there no accountability, but they often get rewarded with government bailouts.
The song holds out hope that eventually the current system will fall. For that to happen money from lobby groups need to be eliminated. People over profits has to become the new reality.
