Shad is a veteran Kenyan born Canadian rapper who is known for his positive message. On October 26, 2018 he his scheduled to release his anticipated sixth album, A Short Story About a War. He has recently released music videos for the album’s first two singles, “The Fool Pt 1 (Get It, Got It Good)” and “The Fool Pt 3 (Frame of Mind).”

“The Fool Pt 1” is an exuberant celebration of black pride. It addresses how despite issues of violence against black people there is still a resilience (“They keep on killing us / We just keep killing it”).  The tune also has a positive message about acceptance.  Instead of allowing judgmental attitudes towards differences, we can embrace them and unite.

“The Fool Pt 3” also features acclaimed electronic artist KAYTRANADA. The song is more personal than political, but rising above personal struggles, such as depression, contributes to making the world a better place. Also it is important we discuss human struggles and remove the stigma. It is OK to be fragile.

The thought-provoking tune also offers insights on the dangers of social media addiction. Sometimes there is a need to unplug.
