The latest tune by the British-Tamil artist is in protest of the use of AI to make art, specifically how the work of real artists is used to train AI, often without consent. The tune is dedicated to whistleblower Suchir Balaji, an OpenAI employee who warned of copyright violations within the company. He was found dead on November 26th, 2024, from a single gunshot wound to the head. Even though the official cause was ruled as a suicide, there is significant speculation that foul play may have been involved. In either scenario, being a whistleblower would have at least contributed to his death.
