The legendary rocker just officially released a tune that he recently debuted live on April 26th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Young is no stranger to socially conscious tunes, and he’s a lifelong environmentalist. This song is a plea for America to invest in clean energy and for American car companies to focus on building more electric vehicles. In his plug for electric vehicles, there is one notable exception: “If you’re a fascist, get a Tesla.” If Elon Musk were a Neil Young fan, he probably isn’t now.
Even though the song is a bit clunky, you can’t fault him for his conviction. The tune also borrows from “This Land Is Your Land” and will appear on his upcoming album Talkin’ To The Trees, out June 13.
