Daily Dose of Protest: Flood – Ruby Gill

Daily Dose of Protest: Flood – Ruby Gill

From the artist’s Bandcamp

This poignant tune is from Ruby Gill’s recently released sophomore album, Some Kind of Control. The South African-born, Australian-based singer-songwriter was inspired to compose the tune when she was visiting her father in South Africa and got caught in a cyclone. The lyrics are an incisive critique of the damaging effects of climate change and a scathing rebuke of the “man who thinks he made nature.”
