Daily Dose of Protest: Insubordinate Ingerland – Hot Milk

From the band’s website

This tune is from the UK emo power pop band’s upcoming sophomore album, Corporation P.O.P, out June 27. The infectious tune features tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic lyrics exploring the state of their nation and their love-hate relationship with it.

They posted the following comment in all caps on the video’s YouTube page: “WE FEEL DISENFRANCHISED, APATHETIC AND CONFUSED AT THE STATE OF THE NATION. I THINK WE CAN ALL RELATE ALL AROUND THE WORLD. WHERE IS THE EMPATHY? WHERE IS THE DECORUM? WHY ARENT WE LOOKING AFTER THE MOST FRAGILE IN SOCIETY? WHY IS MY GRANDMA FREEZING IN THE WINTER AND DYING OF THIRST IN THE SUMMER WHEN ENERGY COMPANIES MAKE RECORD PROFITS? WHY IS THE NHS COLLAPSING? WHY ARE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES BEING STRIPPED OF FUNDING? WHY IS THE LOVE FOUR (sic) OUR FELLOW MAN DEAD? THIS IS NOT AN ARGUMENT, THIS IS A CONVERSATION. CALM DOWN AND TALK.”
