Daily Dose of Protest: Do You Want It Now? – The Discarded

Album cover for The Discarded latest album, Manifesto.

The Discarded is made up of veteran Canadian indie musician Joel Wasson and his two sons Jared and Caden. The trio plays kick ass old school garage punk. Their energetic musical attack is blended with socially conscious lyrics.

“Do You Want It Now?” is off of their 2nd full length album, Manifesto.  The tune is an anti-conformity anthem (“Develop a personal anarchy / I don’t need a rule to do the right thing”) which also touches on anti-capitalism themes (“It’s not about chasing wealth / Don’t be told what you like”). If more parents taught their children good old fashion punk rock ethos the world would be a better place.
