“The Warriors” is a new tune by Indigenous Canadian Hip Hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids. The hard-hitting song appears on the compilation benefit album Tiny House Warriors Vol 1. The Tiny House Warriors is a group that is fighting the Kinder Morgan TransMountain pipeline expansion into Secwepemc Territory in British Columbia, Canada.
Yung Trybez of the rap duo made the following statement to Noisey about the pipeline: “This isn’t just a pipeline on our land with risk of infecting our waters, this is the intersection of violence against our lands, bodies, and governance.” Canada has a long dark history of mistreating natives and treating them less than humans. The poignant lyrics of “The Warriors” underscores that the fight for Native rights is a battle that is still sadly waging.
