On July 27, 2018, Mark “the Shark” Shelton, the lead singer and guitarist of heavy metal veterans Manilla Road, tragically passed away.
“Dreams of Eschaton/Epilogue” is an epic 12 minute protest tune off of their overlooked classic 1983 album Crystal Logic.
The lyrics addresses issues such as climate change (“A new Solar Ice Age/ An Earth that no science could save”) and the threat of nuclear war (“The world committing nuclear suicide”). The song also effectively employs mythological and apocalyptic imagery to provide a prophetic warning message.
