She Makes War is the moniker of UK indie artists Laura Kidd. Her fourth full length album Brace For Impact will be released on September 28, 2018.

Kidd made the following statement about her musical motivation on the upcoming album, “People still live in fear of persecution and violence every day for the “crime” of being themselves. With everything that’s going on in the world, adopting a brace position to protect ourselves from external forces is more important than ever.”

“Devastate Me” is the album’s first single. It is an insightful analysis of the dark side of social media. According to Kidd,  “It’s about photography as a reflex, the way people overshare online and how when we die our online profiles just stay there. The internet is amazing – I’ve built my career using it, but it can be so awful.”

The tune includes the poignant chorus:

“We disappear so quietly
Devastate me
We’re crying out, so eager to please
Devastate me
We disappear so quietly
Devastate me
We’re crying out, but nobody sees
Devastate me”

The human need for acceptance is negatively fostered on social media. When that acceptance isn’t received the effects could potentially be devastating.

As described on She Makes War website, the tune is “simultaneously scintillating and scathing, the track is an infectious dose of punk-infused pop with a conscious message.”
